The scheme fits with policies set out in the West Sussex Transport Plan, which are designed to address traffic congestion and pollution, and have a positive impact on the local economy. WestSussexCarShare.com also supports the County Council's TravelWise® campaign, which aims to promote and encourage sustainable travel.

As one of the county's major employers, West Sussex County Council has successfully been operating a car sharing scheme for its staff since September 2003. Experience has shown that you may live close to someone you work with, without even knowing. WestSussexCarShare.com is designed to bring together potential car sharers and realise opportunities to reduce the stress of driving and the cost of commuting to work by car.
